Carlton J. Kell High School is located in Marietta, Georgia.  The school is one of the newest high schools in the Cobb County School District, opening in the fall of 2002.

The Kell Band Program has grown to an enrollment of approximately 200 students.  The comprehensive program includes three concert ensembles, marching band, two jazz ensembles, numerous chamber ensembles, percussion ensembles and winter guard.

The Kell High School Percussion Ensemble has grown from two students to its current studio of over 35 percussionists.  The all-volunteer percussion ensemble rehearses twice weekly after school.  The ensemble has performed at the 2003 Gatlinburg Music Festival, the 2005 P.A.S. Georgia Day of Percussion, the 2006 and 2012 Bands of American National Concert Band and Percussion Festival, the 2008-2010 Jacksonville State University Day of Percussion, the 2010 NEA Gala in Washington DC as well as many local concerts and festivals.

The ensemble has developed a tradition of musical excellence and diversity, having performed compositions by Mark Ford, David Gillingham, Lynn Glassock, Patrick Long, Philip Mikula, David Maslanka, Christopher Rouse and Nigel Westlake.

The students and directors of the Kell Percussion Ensemble would like to thank David McGrath, David Roth, Jody Miller, Val Stoney, and Sue Bulock for their continued support.  We would also like to thank the Kell High School Administration, the Cobb County School District and the Kell Band Booster Association and Gary Markham for making music a priority in the education of all students within the community.
